A roaming, bar-style cabaret where performers share the stories and memories behind their shows – one room, one drink at a time
Think less theatre, more bar that happens to have performers in it. Across several evenings, the studios of Xiqu Centre are reimagined as a bar where the performers from WestK Cabaret Night series gather to keep the conversation going. Drink in hand, audiences travel together through the studios in sequence, arriving in each room to find a performer ready and waiting – with a song, a story or a memory that has never quite fit the confines of a stage.
This is cabaret as it was always meant to feel: not watched from a seat, but encountered up close, over a drink, in a room full of strangers becoming less strange.
Immersive Cabaret Journey – Memoria is directed by Kingston Lo, an independent theatre practitioner and Hong Kong Drama Awards Best Director, whose work spans directing, playwriting and theatre criticism.
